The Second Semester of AP Chemistry brings with it a number of concepts that require careful shepherding – equilibrium problems with common ions, titration and buffering problems, the beginnings of organic chemistry, fractional precipitation, and nuclear chemistry all present challenges that go distinctly beyond the relatively familiar content of the first semester, and we’ll be looking at how to break the complexity down into simple recognizable parts, and using calculator techniques to simplify the more mechanical and labor intensive calculations. In the month leading up to the AP Exam, we’ll be hosting extra weekend study sessions and mock graded exams to help students identify and overcome their trouble areas.
